Water Economy-Lining of canals

Our canal system which is life line for our agriculture, spoiled sizable area of fertile land by seepage. The seepage can be prevented if bottom of canal is lined by cement concrete bricks and side walls by thick HD plastic sheets. Some times machines are operated in the canal to de-silt it. The cement concrete tiles will with stand the pressure of the machines and at the same time a small amount of water will percolate down to recharge ground water. This will save 60% water and stop land degradation. The spoiled land will be reclaimed in time.

गंगा को पुनर्जीवित करने हेतु विगत कुछ दशको में इसकी तलहटी में जमा गाद को हटाना एक महत्वपूर्ण कार्य है जिसके लिए  अत्यधिक जोश एवं ऊर्जा की आवश्यकता होगी. इस ऊर्जा की पूर्ति यांत्रिक अथवा मानवीय दोनों संसाधनों द्वारा संभव है. वस्तुतः  यह कहना सही होगा की इस परिप्रेक्ष्य में यंत्रो के स्थान पर केवल मानवीय ऊर्जा ही अपेक्षित  कार्य करेगी. यंत्रो के सहारे गंगा की गाद साफ़ कर पाना मुश्किल है जबकि मानव श्रम द्वारा इस कार्य को  कुशलता पूर्वक आसानी से किया जा सकता है.
सावन माह में कावन यात्रा के दौरान असीमित जोश एवं उर्जा का प्रदर्शन होता है. इस उर्जा को उचित दिशा प्रदान कर दी जाय तो आश्चर्यजनक परिणाम प्राप्त हो सकते है.बैद्यनाथ धाम देवधर में स्थित द्वादश ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है जहाँ की भूमि पथरीली अनुपजाऊ है.प्रतिवर्ष लाखों कांवरिये असीमित उर्जा से अभिभूत गंगाजल बाबा वैद्यनाथ पर चढाते है.ये कांवरिये गंगाजल के साथ साथ अपने क्षेत्र के जलश्रोत की थोड़ी मिटटी भी यदि यहाँ लेते आये तो इससे दो फायदे होंगे.कालांतर में स्थानीय जलश्रोत स्वतः गहरे हो जायेगे तथा बाबा धाम के आसपास की भूमि उपजाऊ हो जाएगी.आवश्यकता प्रधानमंत्रीजी एवं अन्य क्षेत्र के नेताओ द्वारा प्रभावी अपील की है जिससे इस असीमित उर्जा को उचित दिशा मिले.

Water economy-Sprinklers and drip irrigation

Irrigation either by diesel or electric driven pumps must be carried out with sprinklers and drip system. It will stop water wastage.Petrol pumps and electricity department can facilitate scheme effectively.They can be centres of teaching,advising and maintaining the system.The economic use of water is the need of hour. What ever water is withdrawn for irrigation, its 40% is wasted due to seepage and evaporation. Drip irrigation system and sprinklers prevent such water wastage.
The idea can be implemented in dark zone blocks.

Solid Waste Management

Solid waste management must be our top priority. Today waste is either left open for decay or dumped in   ponds or water body. So many ponds of Kanpur are destroyed in this way and several colonies grew up on extinct ponds. The local bus station is on a filled up half pond where remaining pond still can be seen. Kanpur would have been an example of solid waste management plant but vested interests and apathy of the Bigs made plant failure. Every town of the country needs such plants. Immediate attention is required.
